Georgetown transfer Vee Sanford exploded for 12 points in the first half of play to help the Flyers overcome an early deficit in a 74-61 season-opening win over Arkansas State. Dayton had it's lead cut to single digits twice in the final seven minutes, but senior Kevin Dillard stepped up his game to finish with a double-double and seal the game for the Flyers.
