Harris gets two new offers

Tyler Harris has been a busy man lately entertaining attention from the college ranks.

The Dix Hills (NY) Half Hollow Hills West small forward has approximately ten offers to his name, not surprising considering his ability. A four-star prospect and the 77th best player in the entire country as rated by Rivals.com, Harris has talent to spare.

Just in the past few weeks, Harris has added offers from two of the best conferences in college basketball.

"I just got two new offers," said Harris. "One from Virginia Tech and one from USF."

The two newcomers provoked a positive response from Harris.

"I like both of those schools a lot," he said. "I watched both of them play during the season and I will be taking a visit to see them soon."

Harris wouldn't necessarily get an A-grade if taking an exam on the history of the USF basketball program. However, he knows enough about the Bulls, and their coaches to have his interest peaked.

"I don't know much about it, but I do know it is a good program," he said. "I speak to the coach and he is real cool. I think once I take a visit there I will definitely know a lot more about them. I talk to their assistant coach a lot."

The 6-foot-8, 195-pounder has yet to narrow down his list. No plans are scheduled to do so until he has a chance to experience the schools in person.

"I haven't taken any visits yet," Harris explained. "Once I go on a few visits and see everything I will cut my list down.

"I think I am going to visit USF when I go to National's. It is down in Florida. Once that is over with, I will go visit USF."

With a plethora of offers and interest from schools such as Washington, Wisconsin, Maryland, Syracuse and UCLA, it won't be easy to separate one school from another. Harris does have some criteria to assist in his decision-making process.

"Mostly I will look at the school's academics, the coaches, the style of play, the campus - most of those things I will be looking at," he said.

The New York native provided some analysis on the current state of his game and what he would most like to improve on.

"I am a pretty good shooter," Harris said. "I can take people off the dribble. I like to score a lot and mostly I always go for rebounds and I always attack the rim. Those are some of my strengths."

"I have been working on my strength. That is mostly what I have been working on and I got a lot better. I am just going to keep on working harder. I want to add a lot more weight mostly with my strength. Once I get stronger I will add more weight."

Talk about it on The Bullpen.
