"Matt Kavanaugh was suspended for violating the University's student code of conduct. We took this issue seriously, and we reviewed it thoroughly, as we would for any student. Matt has met his obligations to the University during this interim period and, as a result, he will be readmitted as a student and as a member of the basketball team."
Statement by Tim Wabler, UD Vice President and Director of Athletics
"Matt has fulfilled the obligations required of him to return to the University as a full-time student, including participation as a member of the basketball program. We are pleased for Matt and his family that he will complete his senior season and graduate from the University of Dayton."
Statement by Matt Kavanaugh
"I am sorry this has impacted so many people, and I've learned a great deal in my time away from UD. I'm grateful to the University for the opportunity to return. It is very important to me to graduate as a Dayton Flyer."
Kavanaugh played for UD from 2009-2012. As a junior center in 2011-12, he averaged 9.0 points and 5.9 rebounds. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
