Smith talks about his UD visit

The Dayton Flyers hosted one of, if not the top target on their recruiting board this past weekend for an official visit. The Flyers have a commitment from one Rivals150 prospect already and are trying to add another in Dayshon Smith.

Dayshon Smith is a 6-2, 170-pound point guard out of Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut. Last year, the guard averaged 17 points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals per game. He had a huge summer on the AAU circuit and saw his stock rise as a result.

He concluded an official visit to Dayton over the weekend and FlyerHoops caught up with him to see how it went.

Asked who his hosts were on the visit, Smith mentioned Kevin Dillard, Josh Benson, and Jalen Robinson.

Smith said he did not get a chance to run with the guys while he was in town, but did get a tour.

"The facility was nice," he said. "I also liked the campus, it was a good visit."

Asked if he saw a fit there with Dayton, Scoochie replied, "I think it is good, there's not too many seniors this year. I can see myself at that program."

He also noted that "hanging with the team" was his favorite part of the trip.

Smith will have a busy upcoming week, traveling to Duquesne on Wednesday and then Drexel on Saturday. Providence has already hosted him for two unofficial visits.

Dayshon could make a decision in the next couple of weeks, but he didn't want to say it will happen for sure.

We'll continue to follow Dayshon Smith as well as other top 2013 targets. Stay tuned to FlyerHoops, the best in Dayton basketball recruiting coverage.
